S1 (Squad of 1 Unit) is a new school
duo that does it all. There style of entertainment is like no other due to
there musician/dancer style that wows audiences. They are an up and coming
twin duo by the names of Anthony and Antwon Agurs
that will rise without any question or hesitation.
Anthony and Antwon were born on December 24, 1993 in
Raleigh, NC at Wake Med hospital 6 minutes apart. These twins came into the
world with an absolute destiny. The brothers moved to Chicago, Illinois in
1998 living with there mother for two years until moving back to there
hometown in 2000. Anthony and Antwon were always creative, playing and
creating things with what whatever was around. The boys had a nag for
creativity and ideas. By the age of ten in 2004, their grandfather bought
them a karaoke machine which they recorded their voiceover classic
instrumentals like Naughty By Nature's O.P.P. Even though they did
not experiment with dancing yet, but
at the age of ten the twins started to practice walking on their hands!
Anthony started practicing first, balancing himself on his
hands and walking to his room every day. Antwon on the other hand started to
practice dancing by the middle of 2004 after seeing an Usher music video.
While Anthony was hand-standing and Antwon was practicing moves, the two
seemed to have parallel lines of entertainment until they swapped in 2006,
practicing the opposing skills they did two years prior. By late 2006 the
twins made up a play dance group called s1mply Da' Best along with a dozen
other street dancers. This small group battled kids at their middle school
West Lake. In 07' the boys tried to attend every school dance and party that
they could, winning each one. By mid 07' Anthony and Antwon had perfected
themselves as dancers and gymnasts. After moving from West Lake in Raleigh
to East Wake Middle in 08' they experienced another way to branch of their
talent, the internet. Anthony and Antwon changed their name to S1 cutting of
the Da Best after meeting two seventh grade buddies (Hypeboy
and T-money) and uploading songs to Myspace and Youtube.
The first song was a middle school parody
called "Shut Up Trick" which landed the four boys recognition around their
middle school and on the internet. A song was uploaded by the four boys
every week until on Dec 9, 2008 when Hypeboy and T-money left because of
disagreements.
S1 began to brush it off and continue as a
duo. The twins were on their own again and realized that's how it was meant
to be. S1 really started to work hard in 2009 obtaining more internet hits
and merging their two talent dancing and music and always dressing the same
as twins. Their talents were being more perfected as their songs became more
serious and had better quality. After talent shows and consistence, the duo
founded their manager "Quick" who owned a barber shop down the street called
"Cutz By Quick." While walking in one day for a haircut, the boys were doing
a dance while opening the barber shop door.
Quick recognized the twins were special
because of their approach to enter the music/entertainment world
differently. Quick started to work with S1 on their routines and setting up
shows for the fans they obtained. "their talent makes them stars" says quick
" not just rapping". S1 is being molded to being one of the most promised
successful duos to date. Now it's the beginning of 2011 S1 is more ready
than ever staying fresh and dressing the same which resembles them as one
unit. 2011 has a huge show line up for S1 at schools all over Knightdale,
and performances at birthday parties for their adoring fans, All in All the
future looks big, and when S1drops duos will never be the same!!!! -S1
